This was a one afternoon(!) turnaround - with the intention of one crop for the NYT website, and a separate crop for the printed version. Last minute changes in the day's events meant the printed version stayed the same. The portrait version was set to feature more interactively within the page, so it's a shame that didn't see the light of day.
